I’m going to admit I had very low expectations, I ride the shortest FD cable (12cm) so I didn’t think I would notice much difference (since I’m not dipping my pod in the water as much as I would have with a longer cable). I was wrong. On a wave, it felt fast and light for the entire length of the wave - which translates to a significant reduction in drag. I also noticed this reduction in drag just motoring around - this was more noticeable towards the end of my session when the battery dips below 20/25%. I always feel a reduction in power when the battery goes this low, but today I did not. Todays conditions were pretty average (howling offshore wind, small waves) however I do think that it significantly enhanced my session and I am really excited to see how I can further push my skills when the conditions are really good. Another thing I was skeptical about was the cable ties. They are, however, extremely strong and robust. I can’t make the pod move around at all. To the contrary, every time I throw my board and mast over my shoulder, I do feel the FD pod slip up and down a little. The ties are extremely robust, which totally surprised me. The Pod shape and material is very sleek and appears to have a very hydrodynamic design. To add to this, I foil surf mostly sandy beach breaks in NSW, Australia. I can’t see that I would go back to the normal FD pod after using the zip-pod today. I am totally surprised that it enhanced my experience so much! I think every foil driver would absolutely benefit from using a zip-pod.Posted on Sungho SparkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Such a huge upgrade for a Foildrive kit. Very sturdy and high build quality. I love the accessories too!Posted on Christopher CurranTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 93 kg rider (plus winter wetsuit) needing as much efficiency as I can get; the Zip Pod is legit! Immediately noticed smoother entry/exit of the pod, less drag, and the ability to pump back up above the pod rather than getting bogged down as soon as it dips. The custom 3D printed fit to my KT mast is perfect. Huge difference in drag reduction over the stock pod and better execution than a competitor's pod I tried. The included fairings clean up the exposed cable and allow for smooth taping. His motor and battery compartment 3D printed caps fit perfectly and add some protection for these expensive parts. It's clear a bunch of thought and care has gone into this product and Brad's communication was excellent and helpful. Incredible value and highly recommended.Posted on NeilTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Zip Pod is legit one of the biggest upgrades in performance that I have done to my FD setup. You can barely feel it now when the pod touches down so no more sudden nose pitch issues when you drop in at full speed and get to low with a pod touch down. The other perhaps even more significant upgrade is that it completely solves ventilation and cavitation issues on choppy days. I feel invincible now on the FD even with my short cable mount which is as close to the board as possible. These are custom fit for every supported mast and have been extensively tested. Solid product and great support. Thanks Zip Pod!Posted on Nicholas TarverTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The zip pod is better than expected. Solid and durable. Very noticeable reduction in drag. I’m getting an extra 15 minutes from my battery. Absolutely no reason to buy an expensive integrated mast. The money saved can go towards other equipment.Posted on Paulo ScholleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Massive improvement over the standard pod and a significant step up from the Magic Flow Pod. I only realised after the session that I never once felt the pod touch the water. It was that clean. Once you ride it like this, there’s no going back. And the best part? I can still use my existing masts for prone and surf, without having to drop $2,000+ on an integrated mast setup. Absolute win.Posted on Tom CampbellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Loving my Zip Pod! Way less drag when you get low on the mast which is especially important on larger waves and for “digging out of a hole” when pumping. Really well engineer and I appreciate the little details in the packaging. I know Brad put a ton of testing into the product so I’m confident it’ll take a beating. Get one!Posted on SamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Was super impressed with the pod. Have tried an integrated mast and this was similar if not identical performance. Brad is a talented engineer who has invested a massive amount of thought into every design choice. You are buying a product that has been refined and rigorously tested. As far as riding performance goes It is not comparable to the original fd pod the allows the pods to enter the water with way less drag. The overall set up is far quieter and reduces battery usage significantly. On the same Foil in flat water, it takes 70% throttle to taxi with the original fd pod but with the zip pod that drops down to 60% throttle. Even if you plan to get an integrated mast In the future, it is a no-brainer to try this now! Literally the cost of a tail wing.Posted on Fletch MillerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Zip Pod is one of the biggest upgrades you can make for riding enjoyment. Hands down, this thing is game changing. If you’re already riding swell and waves on your Foil Assist, you know the most annoying thing is to unintentionally dip your motor pod into the water while pumping, carving, or flying down the line at high speed. With the stock pods that protrude beyond the leading edge of your mast, this dip can completely kill your maneuver or bog you down, potentially causing unwanted falls. With the Zip Pod installed, these dips are now barely noticeable, allowing me to ride more aggressively and pump freely. Such an upgrade. The installation was easy with the instruction video and customer service has been timely and thorough. 11/10 in my opinion!Posted on Chris BlomshieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For any intermediate to advanced rider, the Zip-Pod is easily the most impactful upgrade you can add to your Foil Drive kit. The reduction in drag is immediately noticeable with how much smoother things feel when powering out. For me this isn’t about motoring faster, but with less power reducing the hippo fart situation —it translates directly into extended battery life, allowing for longer sessions and more waves. For my real world numbers I went from motoring at 65% thrust to 55%. Ride times are so variable based on conditions I don’t have reliable session duration. The most impressive part of the Zip-Pod is how it stabilizes the ride. High-speed "pod dipping" no longer pushes the board around; in fact, you’ll likely only notice the pod is in the water if you’re actively thinking about it. For anybody connecting waves by pumping you’ll immediately gain the ability to grave dig higher on the mast after dipping the pod. For me, an OEM pod dip meant pumping was nearly immediately done. Since putting on the zip-pod I have gone from connecting a max of 3 waves without the motor to over ten a few times. Sorry to use a tired phrase but, “that’s a game changer!” I will NEVER run the OEM pod again.Load more
