ZIP POD for Armstrong
Quickly removable, lightweight, and significantly lower drag than universal motor pods, the Zip-Pod is a durable, cost-effective alternative to expensive integrated masts. It transforms your existing foil mast into a sleek, low-drag motor-assist system at a fraction of the cost.
While modest efficiency gains are seen during motorized takeoff, the Zip-Pod truly excels at speed. It can dip into the water with no noticeable braking effect, reducing drag, improving stability, and lowering the chance of wipeouts. Pumping out of a motor dip to link the next wave becomes smoother and easier.
All product testing is fully transparent and publicly available, including joint stiffness, zip-tie creep, impact testing, and dynamic pressure testing. No other product in the industry offers this level of open validation.

*** Note, not every picture in the gallery shows a full-install at this time. It shows the snug fit of the Zip Pod to the specific mast as evidence.
*** Products are fabricated upon ordering and will typically ship within 7-14 days from order date at the latest.***
- The Zip Pod kit comes with:
- the Zip Pod motor mount
- 4 attachment bolts (same ones as factory "puck" attachment) with hole-plugs.
- 3 zip-ties for installation plus 9 spares. More can be purchased from the hardware store or Amazon (50lb capacity, 0.190" wide x 16 inches long).
- Cable fairings to cleanly route the cable from the motor to the mast base, giving a clean, sharp tape-job.
- Purchase 2-inch-wide electrical tape from the shop for a smoother installation than typical 3/4-in-tape (LINK)
- Reminder that the Zip-Pods are rigid and specifically contoured to the mast you choose and are not universal, even among different models from within the same brand, due to varying mast shapes.
- Zip-Pods are guaranteed to work with 12 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm, & 25 cm motor cable lengths. The 12cm positions will likely be more snug than 15cm, and the 20/25 cm positions may require an extra wrap or two of tape to get a snug fit.
- Usage of the Zip-pod with longer cable lengths (such as e-foil positons) are at your own risk and not guaranteed to fit well. Some masts (like aluminum extrusion) and some carbon ones have a constant cross section from one end to the other, so they would work along the whole length. Other masts taper (reduce size) in the chord length and/or width direction and the Zip-Pod will not fit tight to the mast and could cause vibrations or damage. It might be feasible to use extra wraps of tape to fill the gap, but good, snug fitment can not be guaranteed and usage is at your own risk. You would also need to purchase extra cable fairings (LINK) to reach to the final motor position for a clean cable-tape installation.
DISCLAIMER:
ZIP TIES:
The Zip Ties used are not special or particular. They are 16" long x .190" wide, 50lb capability, black nylon. They come from this Amazon (LINK). We suggest checking them for deviation from nominal install fit before each usage, there should be no major relaxing or ability to stretch the Zip Pod backwards from the mast. If there is, please replace the full set of 3. Prying them by using the motor is not a viable load case nor cause for concern; boat prop shafts aren't good at taking lateral loads, but they've worked well for ages in the direction they're designed for.
